THE Rector, Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, Dr. Oluremi Olaleye, has given the assurance that the welfare of students and staff of the institution will always top the priority list of the administration of the school.

He stated this during the matriculation of new intakes into the part-time programmes of the institution at the main campus of the school in Ikorodu.

Olaleye added that in line with that, the polytechnic administration was making efforts at providing hostels for the students.

“We have approached bodies such as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for this purpose and it has keyed into the project. If finally this is successful, our students can fully enjoy and feel academic culture within a conducive environment of like minds.

It is also worth mentioning that several other organisations have expressed interests in partnering with us toward building hostels for our students. This is receiving serious consideration of the management,” he said.

Olaleye who expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his unflinching support for the institution, also thanked the Special Adviser, Education, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, for his passion for the overall development of education in Lagos State.

The Rector urged the matriculating students to be guided by the rules and regulations guiding their studentship of the institution.

He reminded them of the need to comply with the dress code of the school, noting that they were admitted for serious academic work and not fashion parade and entertainment.

The admitted students were for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses in various fields.

Buhari reappoints Runsewe, others

 By Osa Amadi President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Otunba Segun Runsewe as Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture for another term of four years to continue the deepening of Nigeria’s cultural economy. CBN depreciates naira to N410.25 in I&E window

CBN By Elizabeth Adegbesan The Central Bank of Nigeria depreciated the naira yesterday by N16.25 kobo depreciated in the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window. This represents the third and  biggest daily depreciation of the naira since 2017. Recall, the indicative exchange rate for the window jumped to N374 per dollar at the close of business from N368.33 per dollar on 11th of March 2020, translating to N5.67 depreciation for the naira. READ ALSO: ASUU strike cripples economies of university communities in 2020 Similarly,  last month,  CBN depreciated the naira  by N7.75 in the window, as the FMDQ platform, showed that the I&E window rose to N393/$ at the close of business from N385.5/$  November 24 2020. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for the window rose to N410.25 per dollar from N394 per dollar on Wednesday, indicating N16.25 kobo depreciation of the naira.
